Well, its summer time so you know what that means; yep, fantasy football season....almost anyways. So the normal questions are out there, as they are every season when you're plotting out your draft strategy. What players from last season will reeat their high fantasy outputs and which are frauds? What rookies are must haves and who are just hype? Here are some of my opinions.....

The Usual Suspects

Every season there will be fantasy main-stays that you have to pick when given the option. I don't expect to blow anybody's mind here, nonetheless here are your cant miss picks.

  1. Peyton Manning (QB)-  - 5,477 Yards, 55 TD, 10 INT= 406 Points
  2. Jamal Charles (RB) - 1,980 Total Yards, 19 total TD 2 Fumbles= 295 Points
  3. Calvin Johnson (WR) - 84 Receptions, 1,492 Yards, 12 TD 1 Fumble= 212 Points
  4. Jimmy Graham -(TE) - 86 Receptions, 1215 Yards,16 TD= 211 Points
  5. Seattle (DEF,ST) - 44 Sacks, 28 INT, 11 Fumbles recovered= 195 Points

The Frauds

Here are players you want to avoid, but tell your friends to pick.

  1. Andy Dalton (QB) 4,296 Yards 33 TD 20 INT= 227 Points--The Red Rifle huh?
  2. Knowshon Moreno - (RB) 1586 Total yards, 13 TD= 220 Points-- Injuries and a change of scenery likely to spell a horrendous season for Knowshon.
  3. Eric Decker (WR) 87 Receptions,  1288 Yards,  11 TD =187 Points--Like Moreno, the change in scenery is one thing. Being the guy is another but mostly.....Geno Smith is not Peyton Manning.
  4. Brent Celek (TE) 32 Receptions, 505 Yards,  6 TD= 75 Points--I expect the emerging Zack Ertz to take over the starting role before mid-season.
  5. Indianapolis (DEF,ST) 42 Sacks 15 INT 12 Fumbles recovered 2 TD= 110 Points--Traditionally poor against the run, and  lack luster ability to get a stop on 3rd down. Factor in Robert Mathis missing the first 4 games due to suspension, and i cant stress the need to avoid this pick.
Impact Rookies

These first year players are my picks to meet and possibly exceed the hype.

  1. Blake Bortles (QB) Out of all the rookie QB I think Bortles is the most pro-ready.
  2. Bishop Sankey (RB) Replacing CJ2K in Tennessee may prove easier than expected.
  3. Sammy Watkins (WR) Buffalo's passing game threw an incredible 60+% screen passes  The speedy Watkins excels at taking short passes deep. He is my #1 cant miss rookie.
  4. Eric Ebron (TE) 6'4' 250 lbs. 4.6 40 yard dash. Fits that new breed of TE mold to a tee.
Let Them Prove Themselves

  1. Johnny Manziel (QB) Yes, I've heard the hype but this is opinion based. I think his size is his biggest hurdle, maybe he'll prove me wrong.
  2. Carlos Hyde (RB) Don't get me wrong, I think Hyde will be great.....just not this year. He is mired in a deep backfield where he will be fighting just to be activated on Sunday.
  3. Marqise Lee (WR)  Again this is opinion based and i have always seen Lee as over rated. I still do

Keep An Eye On Me

Basically this is just a group of players to watch throughout the preseason and see how they progress

QB
David Carr, Tom Savage, Taj Boyd
RB
Tre Mason, Terrance West
WR
Brandin Cooks, DaVante Adams, Odell Beckham Jr.

There you go folks my very small preview of the 2014 Fantasy Football Season. This is not guaranteed to win you a championship but i sure hope it helps.
